I love Palm Springs and so do many other people and it isn’t exactly a well kept secret! For those that don’t know, it truly is one of the most beautiful places in the whole of the United States. There is so much to do there and it is important that everyone knows about this great place. The first step when you visit is of course to find yourself one of the beautiful Palm Springs vacation rentals and then it’s time to get exploring. Visit the Palm Springs VillageFest
This is a street fair that occurs every Thursday on Palm Canyon Drive (the downtown area of the city). There is always a lot of music, entertainment, food and shopping. I love the antique shops, local crafts and of course, the food trucks serving some delicious food. Mexican street food is naturally the best option and there is nothing like eating a few tacos and taking in the atmosphere. The shops all stay open late and everyone loves the atmosphere that you really cannot find anywhere else.
Explore the Indian Canyons
This amazing place has been the home of the Cahuilla Indians for a very long time. They settled here because it provided a great opportunity to grow crops and plants that they could use for food, basket making and medicine. It is a great way to see how these people lived, especially with the many remnants of houses, trails, rock art and much more. The Palm Canyon is probably my favourite to see the California Fan Palm Oasis, which is the largest of its kind in the world. The canyons are also a great place to pick up a souvenir like no other, especially the handcrafted products made by the local Indians.
Head to the Moorten Botanical Garden
I love the landscape of the desert and this is something you can experience so well in the Indian Canyons, but another great place to see to experience the desert fauna is definitely the Moorten Botanical Garden. Although it is not huge at only an acre it has an impressive collection of cacti and other stunning desert plants. The garden is actually family owned and is home to over 30000 plants that have been arranged by the region that they come from.
