A spiny lizard sunbathes on the side of a rock. Picture taken in Southwest New Mexico. While hiking at the Gila Cliff Dwellings I stumbled across multiple lizards, their scales so spiky I found them to be very unique and interesting.
This week’s picture is of Akumal beach, south of Cancun and Playa Del Carmen in Mexico. Home of world class scuba diving, snorkeling and endangered Green Sea Turtles.
A Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel poses for me on one of the lookout points during my day-trip to Bryce Canyon National Park.
A picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe shrine and the Santuario de Guadalupe Church located in historic Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The spectacular White Sands National Monument located in Southern New Mexico. It’s late evening and the white sand dunes are simply breathtaking! I visited during my week-long road trip through the state in September 2012; unlike anything I’ve ever seen and this was easily the highlight of my trip. The area covers more than 275 square miles and is the biggest of it’s kind in the world.
A sunset from the beach on Ambergris Caye, Belize’s largest island; located in the Caribbean ocean. Every night we sat out on the beach and enjoyed beautiful, picture perfect sunsets like this one; along with the sound of calm ocean waves splashing onto the beach. Normally I can’t stand to sit still long but it was very relaxing and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Pictured are the jagged, rocky cliffs inside Zion National Park, Utah. Shot on a hot sunny day in July, 2012 during our hike to the upper emerald pools on the other side of the valley. I’ve traveled through much of the Southwestern U.S. and haven’t seen many landscapes more beautiful than those found inside Utah’s national parks.
Pictured are the fueling suits hanging in the decontamination room of the Titan Missile Museum. To the right on the wall is one of the original phones from the silo’s active days. Once known as Air Force Facility Missile Site 8, the museum is a ‘retired’ and disabled ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile) site located in the desert south of Tuscon, Arizona.
