This adobe church in Santa Fe, New Mexico is over 200 years old, and is the oldest shrine in North America dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe. This church contains significant history and religious artworks including large oil paintings and a collection of New Mexican santos (carved images of the saints). Unlike some of the other popular churches I visited in the area that had European and Gothic architecture, the Santuario’s design blends in with Santa Fe’s adobe style.
I arrived in the late afternoon as storm clouds rolled in, making for some great pictures. Unfortunately the church had already closed and I didn’t get to go inside. Click on any of the pictures below for larger, high quality viewing.
Don’t miss the featured photo I did a few weeks ago from this same location of the beautiful Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine.
