The San Miguel Mission (also called the Chapel of San Miguel) was originally built in 1610 and is the oldest church in Santa Fe, and claimed to be the oldest in the entire United States. Unlike the other outstanding and historic churches in the area with Gothic-European architecture and feel this one if made of adobe, a construction material more traditional to the area. The mission is home to a sculpture of San Miguel, that was carved in 1709 in Mexico. It was rebuilt in 1710 but it’s said that some of the original adobe walls still stand today (covered by the newer construction).
