This photo was shot on July 4th weekend 2010 during a road trip vacation to Northern Arizona that included visiting Horseshoe Bend, the famous Antelope Canyon slot canyons, a tour of the Glen Canyon Dam, and of course some cooling off in the lake! Powell is by far my favorite lake in AZ and I’d consider it the most beautiful. It is the 2nd largest man made lake in the entire U.S. just behind Lake Mead.
Unfortunately I did miss out on visiting the famous Rainbow Bridge monument but I will be sure to on my next visit.
Looks like amazing place to go for a swim. Looks like the surrounding is deserted and what can be better than a refreshing swim.
Looks can be deceiving.. I’ve waded about 10 ft into the water from shore here… directly behind me is roughly 50 or so trailers and tents full of people still hungover from the day before. But this is a very large lake, you can find plenty of secluded places to enjoy.
